Reykjadalur Valley, Iceland
Have you ever seen a hot river with boiling water? If not, you should jump into your car and take a short trip about 50 km from Reykjavik to explore Reykjadalur – which means Smoky Valley in English translation.
You should drive and park here, where you start the halfday-long hike. The trail is only 3 km long and 3 km back to parking spot. You really can’t stop taking pictures every few meters of your walk – steaming ground and sheep warming up there, different waterfalls, rivulet and growing blueberries in grass…
At the end of your hike through the wonderful valley there is a pretty sweet reward waiting – you must take a bath in hot water and enjoy a relaxing bath.
Warning! The geothermally heated water and bubbling mud pools reach temperature of 100ºC on the start of stream. And the vapor smells funny ;)
